Re: Our new MP
As far as I'm aware Julie Cooper only spoke in Parliament once and it was about Kashmir. It's great news for the area if we get a good MP, no matter from which party https://www.theyworkforyou.com/search/?pid=25283&pop=1#n4 She spoke 670 times. What other lies about her did you swallow? Why did we need cuts? Pop your head back in the sand.... hopefully, next time you pull it out, we will all be living in a socialist eutopia, where everything -including the internet- is free, and we are all enjoying a three day weekend. Things need to be paid for, by other means than just borrowing...

Re: No lights on m65
This is interesting as someone above has said that the M65 is a busy motorway. Genuine question but how do you judge that? The reason I ask is that when I travel up to Burnley/Padiham I always think that it is reasonably quiet on the M65 and used to comment that the stretch of A3 from Guildford up ...

Re: No lights on m65
It wasn't to do with just saving money - if it had been, they would have just switched the lights off. What they actually did (and I think it was the Labour council, but I'm not 100%) was to dig up all the old street lights and replace them with a huge concrete crash barrier. It was deliberate plic...

So who thought it was a bright idea? 4 crashes this week. Mainly in wet conditions with standing water. A three car pile up early this morning. A four car pile up tonight. And a five car pile up yesterday. Along with other delays every day this week for bumps including last night. Conservative cuts...

Rio will be going off tonight, even more so than usual, which is to say a ridiculous amount.
Flamengo are the team of the people, the favelas. Flamenguistas outnumber the supporters of the other three clubs in Rio by a huge amount.

I would suggest as a far smaller country, the distances we're talking are far shorter than in Spain, France and Japan. Sorry I don't buy that argument. This island is a perfect size for high speed rail. Tokyo to Osaka 506kms Madrid to Barcelona 625kms Paris to Lyon 466kms London to Glasgow 663kms L...

I agree fully with Dark Cloud and the general sentiments above, however I understand that the key benefit from HS2 isn't the 'saving on time', it is the 'increased capacity' that the new lines would allow. I'm not sure of the ins and outs of that, but it was a counter argument used when I advocated...

Spot on there. A country the size of England & Wales** does not need trains that knock minutes of a journey. I travel from Leeds to London fairly regularly. The service is, on the whole excellent. I really don't see the need to spend billions to shave 15 minutes off the journey. It's not just about your trips to London though is it? Knocking 30 (not 15) minutes off that journey is one of many benefits. Ha...

Tend to do most of my drinking around Manchester these days. Some fantastic bars in the city centre, with a great selection. Always worth taking a little trip out to he Cloudwater brewery taproom as well. If you haven't been there already, go to the Track Brewery taproom in Crusader Mill on Chapelt...

We've paid 80 quid to go on the Western Terrace. Think they're trying to cash in on the fact that they haven't had an Ashes test for a long time. That new stand they have built won't pay for itself. Lots of grumbles and cries of 'ow much?' from the Yorkshire folk I know when the ticket prices were ...

Will they playing in Turin on the Thursday before our match or at Molineux?

Lancs have few issues to resolve before the knockout stages. The quarter finals are scheduled while the Old Trafford Ashes test is on, so an alternative venue needs to be found. I was in Eden Park, Auckland in 2013 watching Peter Fulton and Brendan McCullum smack our bowling all over place, chasing a declaration. Eden Park is a massive rugby stadium and there was only a handful of people watching, so you could hear pretty much everything that was going on out in the field. ...

Glen Maxwell didn't make the Aussies 25 man preliminary squad for the Ashes. So Lancs will have him until the end of the season. He'll be great in the T20 Blast.

Shambolic from the police and the stewards.
The whole point of creating a wall of buses is to not leave a gap between the buses.
They left gaps between them all, this was the result.

Firstly I don't like the term craft beer but I can't think of a better term to describe it. Secondly I'm not talking about Real Ales.
