There was a clip of Pickford after the last Euros where he went back home to see his family etc and he came across as a very grounded, down to earth lad. He’s a moaner on the pitch and a bit of a character but I think the game needs a bit of that.

Doesn’t Howe like to play quite a possession based style? Pope played the way he did here because he was told to. Excellent players are often pretty adaptable, which is what Pope is. I’m not saying his distribution is necessarily as good as Muric, but he certainly has enough about him to play out.

And the re the goal, I’ve wanted Muric in for a while, but it’s a huge mistake. He’s not the only one, but surely a bit of ‘game management’ has to come in and see it out until half time - sadly lacking again. The number of goals conceded just before half time this year has been criminal.
