I would also add the swap rates have also fallen sharply and they are the benchmark off which fixed rate mortgages are priced. However, mortgage prices have yet to catch up.

If the trade war between China and the US, as well as Japan and South Korea continue, in addition to instability in the middle east affecting oil prices, then prices are likely to rise. That will fuel inflation causing a rise in interest rates to try and combat it. Then add in potential price rises...

Ended up getting the Specialized Allez Elite with a good discount. Also got a Trek X Caliber MTB for a bit of off-roading. Already been out on the Trek and it’s great. Goes anywhere! Might take the Allez for a spin tomorrow.

Allen was in a mess at the end. He was sat on his stool for ages with the oxygen mask on. Not entirely sure what happened to him. He did look like he had run out of ideas but I didn’t get the impression he had run out of energy. Clearly something wasn’t right for him to quit as he did.

I have a cannon dale super six evo 105 and it’s a really good bike but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you plan on cycling about hell for leather. It has a very sporty set up, even when adjusted for longer rides, making it uncomfortable unless you are used to riding long distances. I regularly do 50...

id be very surprised if they do a price match if the other company don’t do the bike to work scheme?! Have you worked how much you’ll save on the scheme? My first bike was an allez, should of been £800 but was £550 after the discount. That was about six years ago. They have already given me a quote...

Looking at Specialized Allez Elite ... £1050 but price match gets this down to £890. That’s before tax saving on cycle to work scheme which means it will end up costing c£340 net.

I’ve got an old Raleigh Record Sprint and love it. Think the old steely’s give a nice ride and still like going out on it. As for modern, I ride a Giant Defy Carbon. 1994 Dawes Impulse, 531 Reynolds Frame, 14sp, runs on 23mm tyres so a bit of a bone shaker and rubbish on hills due to gearing!

Personally, if it were me I'd go with something that's described as an adventure/touring bike. They're a bit comfier and more robust than a full on road bike and can take larger tyres. I'd go for disc brakes and try and get Tiagra (Sora isn't bad but not quite as good, 105 would be out of your budg...

I’m looking to get back into cycling, having not ridden regularly for quite some time. My current road bike is 25 years old, with a steel frame and gear levers on the tube, so needs upgrading! I guess a lot depends on your criteria. If it is the player who made the biggest contribution, then Marney and Barton for sure, but if it is simply the best player then Defour wins by a country mile with Barton second I think.
