An excellent programme which shows Lancashire and its league cricket in a good light. Learie Constantine was reckoned to be the highest paid sportsman in the country during his time at Nelson. Hall, Griffiths and Richards all speak with affection for their time as professionals.

Agreed mdd2 a game that will last in the memory for ever.
Maurice Setters had already "knocked seven bells out of Mac", that was the problem. Along with Jimmy Scoular and Eddie Clamp, Mac reckoned these 3 the hardest he played against though the Burnley side of 59/60 could hand it out too.

Re: ARTICLE: Another win but Burnley mourns death of Smith

Sobers was much troubled by the accident and said Smith would have been a better all rounder than himself. Mac took West Brom apart playing on the right wing with arm in a sling. Don Howe writing in the West Brom local press said it was unfair and that the Burnley (Longside?) crowd would have lynche...

Dave has borne the handicap bravely with little self pity. No doubt he shares his father's DNA, a man who believed his word was his bond. Great to see him play in the 60/70s and his sale to QPR was a big surprise. Good luck Dave.

The Aussie bowling attack are far from average. The unit as a whole is the best they have sent over, that I have seen. Agreed, an excellent fivesome who can easily be rotated. Our rotation Anderson, Wood and Stone are all crocks and Overton seems lacking, Broad has however stepped up to the plate a...

A poor night all round, disappointing attendance and very heavy dew often affects the side bowling second at the Riverside. Davies' innings was superb but the Lancs captaincy a bit dumb. Livingstone had a shocker with both bat and ball.

Lancs have "kept this under their hat" and must have known that a clash was a likely outcome, both dates were fixed well in advance. Did they secretly hope to not qualify? A Liverpool back-up wicket should have been maintained, shabby treatment of members and supporters.
