The referee that day Norman Hough subsequently moved to Littleborough and worked as a tackler/loom mender at the Co-op woollen blanket works whilst still refereeing.

Yes doubly difficult to accept defeat after being 3 nil up in the first game at Turf Moor. Biggest disappointment as a young supporter until we failed in the 1962 run-in and handed the title to Ipswich. Good preparation for being a Burnley supporter!?

Salford - Wigan friday, Castleford - St Helens this afternoon both good games. Wigan should have killed off Salford earlier but Salford came from behind with 3 second half tries. Castleford completely dominated Saints who were not helped by 2 sin binnings. Not sure who will end up champs this season...

The crowd at the replay was enormous, traffic gridlocked as far back as Tod.
