Excellent signing, played around the lower leagues initially and has a well-grounded, experienced career. Mainstay at Brighton recently and we now hope he transfers his skills and ability back to his native north west.

Foakes of Surrey is talked up as the best and he can bat a bit. Buttler, Bairstow and Billings will all lose you the odd game. They have “hard” hands and are clumsy but England has never gone for the best keeper, remember Jim Parks!

Rochdale chairman was on the radio on Saturday, said £8000 would pay 2 players for 1 month. On that basis guess they are on £50,000 a year.

A sad state of affairs really, England were abysmal v Iceland and the antics of Walker, Foden and Greenwood don’t endear. Southgate should have come down on ‘em like a ton of bricks but is too soft. Cricket watching a better bet.

Yes chase it down, I worked in the Civil Service 67-68 for 12 months. On retirement 2010 I tracked this down, result an annual pension worth £500 a year, better mine than theirs!

It is easy to attack St James Place for their glossy brochures and high annual charges but they have access to some high performing, well managed funds. Fund managers are changed and shown the door if they don’t perform so don’t necessarily rule them out.

Looks like an easy win for Lancs but Durham are a dispirited mob these days. The spirit was knocked out of them by the ECB's unfair points deductions and consequent relegation a few years ago.

Well played Ireland, deserved to win.
England's bowling and fielding was very poor, 2nd string bowlers were just that. One seamer short, Moeen is half the cricketer he was and it's good night to James Vince.

Yes correct decision to release him, Lancs gave him many opportunities.
Not the first opening bat to fade away/dry up after a great start, Lathwell at Somerset went from England to nowt in 2 years and Andrew Kennedy at Lancs did something similar, young player of the year who failed to go on.
