That only works if the wages paid are inline with what other clubs "in the market" will also be prepared to pay. Lot's of examples of clubs agreeing over the odds wages and there being an impact on transfer value - either lower fee, or the selling club paying out the balance of the player...

3 of Villa's signings were players who were on loan last season and part of their promotion team which if you can do it is a no brainer and great business.

Also two of the new players Jota and Konsa both worked with Dean Smith at Brentford so he knows them really well
