Re: Clarets supporting Autism
Good watch. Thanks for posting, Viva! As someone who was only diagnosed with Autism last year, I find myself wondering how different my life would have been if I'd been diagnosed as a child. Back in those days, there was little awareness of Autism, but if the help that kids get today had been avail...

Dead of Night (1945)
Night of the Hunter (1955) Charles Laughton's only film as a director as it was panned by critics at the time. So the next thing he did after Hobson's Choice mentioned above (in which he played Hobson).

Re: England v Denmark WWC
The "huge crowds" thing is a bit of a red herring. They had one gate of 55,000 and one of 35,000 but nothing else of that size, and a lot of that was "novelty effect". Dick, Kerr's Ladies played close to half their games against St Helen's Ladies because there were no other teams nearby of anything...

The reason the FA banned women for 50 years wasn't that the women were on a par with the men it was because they were attracting huge crowds and raising money for good causes - made the professional game look bad.

You are absolutely correct! I had them all once....until they went in a skip when CD's came out. If only I had known there would be a revival in vinyl. And "So" was his first studio album not called Peter Gabriel - although album four was released as "Security" in the US and Canada rather than "Pet...

Just come up with this - very sketchy. Wasn't Cruyff a 'disciple' of Rinus Michels? These types of coaches have existed for many decades, even before Michels'. They come and they go; innovative ideas put them on a different pedestal in comparison to their contemporaries but Guardiola will be surpassed and consigned to history eventually...

Ha …. In fairness I think most people know the premise of the film and, if not, it’s pretty clear early on what the idea is. I mean everyone who went to watch Titanic knew the boat would sink. A Night to Remember (a much more factual retelling although with unrealistic iceberg model ship being sunk...

One of my all time favourite films from this era is Twelve Angry Men , made in 1957. Henry Fonda as the morally upright and decent man in the white suit who gradually persuades his fellow jurors and turns a 11-1 "Guilty" verdict into a "Not Guilty". It''s absolutely superb. Yes 1957 a great year fo...
