Re: Our rivals and their signings
The emergence of McNeill has been a major major boost at just the right time.
Plus Hendrick playing well wide right (I said we should try him there 18 months ago) and it’s not all bad.
If we get injuries to Barnes or Wood, we have the personnel to go 4-5-1.

Funny game football. Currently feeling sick, with the gnawing feeling that we’ve blown another chance to win at Old Trafford.
BUT Cardiff are effectively 2 wins away from us now. Every point is vital.
Keep playing as we are and we’ll be fine.

Here in lies the problem. Ref gives a pen, and on review, even if there is the minimalist of contact the VAR panel will give it. No common sense at all.
Thus we’ll see a massive increase in pens next season and a lot more players looking for contact.

Fulham is massive for obvious reasons. Win that and we go 7 clear of them.
Just had a look at the fixtures and I have us getting to 33 points with 5 games left. The next game after that? Cardiff at home. That could be pivotal.
Then we have our awful last 4 fixtures

Whoever we sign needs to be able to get about the pitch. We also need some physical presence in the midfield.
As for the strikers, don’t think January is the time to sort this, as we need a complete overhaul in this area.

Wood, great chance in first half that the keeper tipped over.
Wood again one on one, good save by the keeper
Wood hitting over on the half volley when it looked a certain goal.
Vokes heading over from 2 yards in injury time
All gilt edge chances that would have been converted on another day.
