Seems Spain has approx 20,000 unexplained excess deaths above those attributed to Corvid 19. Who would have believed it . Maybe our figures are closer to the truth than some of ou EC neighbours ?

Do you honestly think the officers involved in the killing of George Floyd will not be given prison sentences? Still no explanation for the lack of riotous behaviour, no worldwide condemnation of the officers involved, no mass protests. Maybe white lives do not matter as much as some people think.

The death rate per 1 million of population currently puts th US at 1/3rd that of Belgium.Also far less than the UK,Spain,Italy and some other Euro countries .???Are they really doing that badly.

I didn’t mean to come across as being negative. There are some really positive signs in the data. As you say tested has increased by a factor of 10, but cases per day have remained about the same. Numbers of people in hospital are coming down. But we are becoming the bad country of Europe with many...

I assume they are earning over the threshold. I see the point that AndrewJB is making. As it stands the furlough scheme could be described as a loan, employees receive the "furlough salary" but it is likely to be clawed back at some point in the future by tax rises across the board, austerity, etc....

Germany and South Korea are both more dense than the UK. Earlier lockdown and proper testing would have done a huge amount to render density/travel almost irrelevant. Instead we had Cheltenham, huge gigs still going ahead and our airports are still open with no testing for passengers. Imagine dying...

The cavalier attitude of Sweden towards the virus seems to have been the wrong one. Today's number of deaths well up on yesterday. Going off the graph posted earlier how much credence can be placed on the line Iran are showing.

Just looked at a chart recording yesterday’s deaths worldwide .France recorded 1,355 the day previous it was just over 500.Does anyone know a reason for this as it seems a shocking increase if true.

I'd suggest that if anything like that was to happen, it would likely be London centric, purely to protect government buildings etc.. We just don't have the capacity for more than that. On a separate point, the BBC is making a headline out of Covid-19 cases topping 200,000. This is very misleading ...
