Me and my mate rushed down to Gawthorpe, starry eyed and nearly wetting ourselves, in anticipation of witnessing the football god known as 'Bambo' in his first training session.
The long ride back past the tin bridge and uphill toward Ightenhill was especially draining. Despondent we were.

First Sunday game was at Millwall in 1983 - we lost 2-0. That Sheffield United game was shown live in the Granada & Yorkshire areas only. The commentary team (Elton Welsby & Lou Macari I think) were in a box built at the back of the Bee Hole End. Don't know where I got that one from, thanks...
