I am not going to defend the decision. However the demand for perfection brought in VAR. Reap what you sow is the most appropriate expression.
Maybe just maybe fans and managers might just get off referees backs and realise how difficult the job actually is.

If a player miraculously recovers I think the referee should be allowed to take the player to the touch line and provide him with the actual injury (under medical supervision, of course). I think the overriding rule is that players should always LEAVE the playing area for treatment, whether minor or not. A player receiving treatment does NOT need to leave the field of play if the offender is cautioned/ sent off and the treatment is completed within the caution or send off procedure.

Hope that explains the law. Not seen the incident yet.
