Re: Depeche Mode - AO arena
Maybe I shouldn’t have let a bad experience when I was dragged along by a mate to a DM gig 40 years ago cloud my judgement all these years! We were intensely tribal about music in those days as well as the football but I suppose those old musical spats seem a bit childish now. The football rivalry s...

Yesterday was one of those days when the team really needed us and it was great to hear the CFS bellowing out our anthem which was echoed by at least three sides of the ground. Apart from the opening game, we hardly set the world alight for a good number of games. Not only did we draw almost every game, we got our ar#e handed to us on a plate by Sheffield. I was another who caught the train to Liverpool on a number of occasions in 86/87 just to watch Trevor play for Everton. We were utterly dire and it was a welcome relief to watch the football he inspired them to play. If it hadn’t been for Heysal they would have dominated Europe.

On a wage bill comparison Benfica’s latest salary figure was £41m so on a par with Everton and certainly more than we will be paying.it’s fair to say they get better value for money than the Toffees. Leicester paid nearly £80m in wages to get relegated!

For comparison on the Ai scout website the transfer value for Benfica’s starting lineup was €237m and for ours €30m. It was a hell of a win and I am adopting the Rowls approach.
