Re: OT: Decent hiking boots?
Last pair I got was from The Original Factory Shop in Padiham (near Tesco), a great pair of Karrimors. Lasted ages, now on their way out, £45. Good bargain. My old pair are Karrimor from when they were made locally and are probably the best hiking boots I've owned. Karrimor are now part of Sport Di...

OT: Decent hiking boots?
I'm after a new pair of hiking boots now that my old pair have finally given up the ghost. I don't want to spend a fortune because I use hiking shoes for around 8 months of the year, so I'm looking at under the £150 mark for Gore-Tex lined? Cheers in advance.

I saw a Monty interview with the famous historian Lord Taylor where he describes how his experiences as an officer in the trenches in WW1 affected how he believed tactics needed to move away from using troops as cannon fodder. https://youtu.be/H1dz3pqbRaw That looks interesting, Mik. And he wasn't very fond of them either. Their dislike for him was mainly as a result of what they saw as indecisiveness and over attention to saving the lives of as many of his soldiers as possible whilst they were more inclined to be rather 'gung-ho' and overly careless of the lives of the troops ...

I received a full cash refund for mine last month. Can't see the point of having it sitting there doing nothing apart from depreciating in value when I'll be able to buy it for £20 or so by this time next year and by then it should be in a lot better shape.

I think they were £200 per share in the 90’s rights issue. Cheers for that. Like I said though. It was so they could feel that they 'owned' part of the club rather than an investment. In fact, I think one of my uncles still has his share certificate framed and hanging on his hallway wall. Now you w...

Re: What about the smaller shareholders?
There's a couple of relatives of ours who bought shares (or a share) back in the 90s. I least I think it was in the 90s, though it might have been the early 2000s. I think they paid £100 per share. The share purchase was always only a vanity holding and in no way whatsoever an investment, but now th...

Re: Does anybody else find Man City boring?
For Man City it’s controlling football, passing it around at the back and completely overwhelming opponents. This then pushes games against Burnley for example to the front of your mind and whilst it can be “boring” purely because it’s so easy for them. I agree. They make it look too easy. If anyon...

Yeah he sold it a few years ago. I remember a newspaper linking to the estate agent photos. If I correctly recall, the furnishing made it look like a bit of a kitsch palace, their names or initials sawn into the carpet weave, kind of thing.

No one is going to prison to five years. It's unlikely they'll even follow it up. Just got lucky with the email addresses and did a press release, that's about it. I'd be surprised if the guy running the IPTV even gets more than a fine. Oh I'm fully aware of the unlikelihood of anyone being sent to...

I'll be serious for a moment. Criminalising people with up to five in prison, for what should be a copyright offence, is utterly OTT. End users of 'illegal' IPTV services should be dealt with under civil law, not the criminal court. The law is protecting the large corps here while also making itself...
