Newport by election result. Lab hold but 12.7% drop in vote. Tories retain second place with 8 % drop. Ukip in third at up 8%.

No surprises really. Area was 56/44 for leave in 2016.

It comes to something when 44% of people are prepared to no deal ( which is not a good thing) and more would do that rather than remain.

I can only assume that the 2% would increase if we had a deal.

Wonder if we’ll get any resignations from the cabinet ministers set on no deal? The answer to that will tell us if May is serious about compromise.
