Not sure why people bother going to cup games. It's a training game for the 2nd string. No injuries, no bookings, play at 70%, result unimportant.

We can afford to pay higher wages - we bank 30 million quid a year - we just choose not to.

I'm sure our wage ceiling compares favourably with average salaries in other leagues worldwide.

There probably are such players, but if they're good enough to replace players in our first team (that have proven they're good enough for PL football), other clubs will probably know about them and be prepared to offer them more. They won't play for £30k a week if they can get £31k somewhere else....
