Re: FAO Claret in Japan.
Thanks CiJ. You've given me plenty to go on. I'm going for 3 weeks so I should fit in lots of your suggestions. I've also purchased a few disposable ponchos in case of sudden downpours. A friend of mine said air bnb in Japan are of high end hotel standard. As you will know, the Japanese are big on h...

FAO Claret in Japan.
Hi CiJ, I was wondering if I could quiz your brain. I'm coming to Japan this summer and I'm toying with the idea of using air bnb instead of hotels. The prices seem reasonable and I would have thought they would be of a good standard. I'm also thinking of using Tokyo as a Base and then venturing out...

Re: Hotels in the UK (A Thread for advice and help to others)
I've stayed in many UK hotels over a number of years and recently decided to try air bnb. Hotels have become quite expensive now especially if you only use them for sleeping as I'm out all day. That's why I tried airbnb. They can be much more reasonably priced(especially if you have stayed at one be...

Re: Jobs, careers, vocation, occupation
Left StTeds in mid 70s and didn't know what I wanted to do. Ended up goung to N&C catering college for 2 years. Passed all the relevant exams and realised quite quickly that there wasn't much future in the hospitality trade around Burnley. So I took the plunge and applied for jobs in London. First j...

Hi Mike, I remember Terry Parks, he was a right hard character but with a heart of gold. He used to drink on the top floor of the 110 club with his mates(who you would not mess with)

Ah right. Yes old Terry was married to Elsie. Did you know they've named the bar in the 110 club after Terry. It's called the Long Bar.

Re: Fellow Clarets in Paphos/Kissonerga
There's a bar called Alexanders in Paphos, 5 minutes from the harbour. It where the Paphos Clarets are based. I think the owners son is a Burnley fan. Plenty of ex pats use it. They have about 5 screens. I asked on Thursday if they would be showing the game and they said of course. See you in there ...

Regarding ball boys waving from the centre circle. It started in 1974.The game was against Leeds I think. Ben wickets. I cook bacon in my air fryer and it's perfect. In fact when I do a breakfast I put in bacon, sausages, hash browns and black pudding. No mess. On a side note I think the term air fryer is a bit misleading. It's more like a mini fan assisted oven.

Re: Best ever indivual performance by a Burnley player ?
Maybe slightly off topic, but I met a guy a couple of weeks ago in a pub in Aberdeen (before 2nd lock down) and he saw my Burnley top and told me he played in the same team as a young guy who played a blinder against Burnley in the 60's in a cup game. Burnley signed him on the back of that performan...

We opened the windows at St. Teds to try and hear the crowd if there was a goal. Got out at 3-15pm and legged it down to see the 2nd half. I'm sure they were still building the Bob Lord stand as I remember all the workmen stopping work and watching the game.
