I wouldn’t lay some of the superlatives, in this thread, on his performance today, though he certainly had a good game.

After some poor displays, Pieters was very good today although I’d have given MOM to Westwood.

Good advice, however, it’s not possible, I have put off getting a Ridgeback for many years as I didn’t have the time to devote to having a dog. Chubby Brown is massively racist and misogynistic. I don't want a comedian to pander to the lowest common denominator, I want them to make me think. Wood was like a schoolboy against Van Dijk.

OK he’s the best centre half in the world, but that begs the question, why was it apparently a tactic to hoof it to Wood, who is generally pretty poor at winning balls in the air, or making use of his size, to at least make it awkward for the opposition.

Pretty perfect signing for us, assuming it all goes through. I’ve always seen him as a grafter, prepared to get stuck in, but offering a threat going forward with some clever passing. A 4-4-2 player as well. Ticks plenty of boxes and only gone 29 earlier this year.

I’d be surprised if this does happen, but very pleased.

Someone able to break up play and then play accurate balls out to either flank could really ease some pressure and set us on the front foot. We’ve had a tendency to utilise our centre halves for that, perhaps more than we should.
