Phillips is a great player, but I think Joe Allen on a fee of 10-12m would be a better shout for us as we know he can perform at this level. Still only 29 and would improve us, in my opinion. Unsure on wages but I am sure he would be wanting to get back into this league and Stoke are a million miles...

Maybe Dyche sees a player/coach role for him? He’s 35 soon and was clearly one of SD’s must trusted performers.

I doubt he’s anything other than keeping himself fit, but stranger things have happened.

Allen would be perfect for us, even though I would like a more athletic (taller and faster, specifically) centre mid, he would for me represent an improvement on Cork, for me.

29 now so ideal age, not sure how much he would cost.

Stubbing is great at Christmas too - really cosy with the decorations and the fire roaring and they do a great Christmas dinner, went on Christmas Eve last year.

Top Brink I don’t think has been mentioned - on the tops above Todmorden. Brilliant location, great food. Consistent as well.
