If you're reading this Alan and on a PC / Laptop, you can use the inbuilt "Talk Sense Ometer". Simply look at the right of posts, and you'll see the posters number of posts, and the number of times they have been liked. I'm amazed at how many people think this is just about the number of fit players they have available.

If the story of the party is correct then forfeiting the game would be appropriate punishment but I doubt the PL would risk the legal challenges of doing this.

Is the talk of being "very close" relating to ALK and BFC agreeing terms or the whole thing done and dusted, including PL approval?
