Every manager has a favourite reporter. Could easily be some leverage for renegotiation of a relegation clause, something to ease the financial pain of a relegation. Agents get up to all sorts. I don’t read anything into it. But there is a time and place to move on from, this isn’t it.

It’s open. It was shut daytime until Wednesday to allow the incompetent Derbyshire CC to repair some of the road that had turned into about 30 deep potholes. Really was farcical.

I’ll be heading down it tomorrow at 8am out of Sheffield then back at 12 to get to Bramall Lane.

Big rises at Forest, adult prices up a lot and concessions tightened like at many clubs. We still seem at the low end but football is pricing out ordinary fans more and more. I don’t think we are deliberately setting out to lose games, but there seems a real naive hope that raw kids can perform at the same level as senior pros who have seem it and done it. It seems like a kind of inverted snobbery, the older one is the worse they must be. Football doesn’t work like that.

This Everton side are better than most of Dyche’s Burnley sides. Particularly in central midfield and upfront with Calvert Lewin. This thread is abusing them but they will stay up easily. They just aren’t pretty.

Dyche has done well with the resources at his disposal. This league is brutal.

I suspect Tella would have signed for us early, he would have thought that was a big move. Personally, I’d take Forest, payback for the owner and well deserved for Luton. No guarantee they will romp the Championship next season. They lose Gibbs White and Akinyi for a start.

We do of course long for Heaton and Pope again, but they were incapable of playing the way we play (and City etc play). The fast distribution, the high defence and sweeper keeper.

I’m not convinced having them in our goal this season would have saved us.
