Smaller population to pick from. Small populations, but both Ireland and NI have plenty of non-Irish-born players. BPF, Saville and Flanagan, all English, played last night. NI happy to welcome English players into their squad but cry "not fair" when players born in NI opt to play for the...

It has been excellent, the athletics - shame about the crowds and venue. DAS was superb, the men's 5000, women's 10000, the 800m finals were all great. 400 hurdles too was excellent. Looking forward to the 1500s most.

Being free to leave and actually leaving are two entirely different things. I wouldn't expect him to go anywhere else. I'd imagine there have been a few other times in his career when his contract was nearing its end.

He was never worth £80m. Everyone knows that. But being English means higher fees are paid. High fees does not always equal world class. Yes, he is decent, but never £80m.

Some Ireland fans still upset about Rice. As they were with Grealish - but neither of them are that great.

Still baffled at Strachan's decision not to pick Arfield, when you look at the pool of 'talent' he had to choose from. He's the exact type of player and temperament their fans love, as the Rangers fans are now seeing. It was indeed baffling. I reckon he'd have been called up had he been with Ranger...

They do seem to take their time making decisions. I think if it is not immediately obvious, after a couple of looks from different angles, then you should go with the ref's initial decision. That won't happen though.
