Re: New York
Try to get out of Manhattan, even if it's just a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge - there's a great pizza place at the Brooklyn end called Grimaldi's. Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery are interesting. You could also get the subway down to Coney Island, ride the Cyclone and get a hotdog at Nathan's.

Re: Thoughts after the 1st round of Euro fixtures?
I agree with that pretty much word for word. I like the look of France. Germany were decent in spells. I liked Slovakia but a (bitter) NI-supporting friend of mine said "they are rubbish". Think he thinks NI should be there instead. Only 8 teams going home though after group, so a few underachievers...

The offside flag rule is just rubbish. Overall, I dislike VAR but agree it appears to have been much better in the early matches of the tournament so far. No long agonising waits.
The Hungary goal and France's 2nd disallowed ones looked obvious offside - just get the flag up

Your suggestion of 'Britain and Ireland' is no more accurate or 'official' than saying 'The British Isles'. The area is known as the British Isles whether you like it or not. It is just a geographical reference that captures the land masses and immediate islands of the UK and Ireland. 'Ireland' is ...
