Try to get out of Manhattan, even if it's just a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge - there's a great pizza place at the Brooklyn end called Grimaldi's. Prospect Park and Greenwood Cemetery are interesting. You could also get the subway down to Coney Island, ride the Cyclone and get a hotdog at Nathan's.

Finland-Russia: I suggested to a friend it'd be funny if they blasted some Impaled Nazarene in the ground before the match. They did a whole record about Finland holding off the attempted invasion by Russia. Might add a bit more spice

I agree with that pretty much word for word. I like the look of France. Germany were decent in spells. I liked Slovakia but a (bitter) NI-supporting friend of mine said "they are rubbish". Think he thinks NI should be there instead. Only 8 teams going home though after group, so a few underachievers...

The offside flag rule is just rubbish. Overall, I dislike VAR but agree it appears to have been much better in the early matches of the tournament so far. No long agonising waits.

The Hungary goal and France's 2nd disallowed ones looked obvious offside - just get the flag up
