Re: The Decline of Burnley (the town not the FC)
I note the article in the OP was written by staff from the Centre for Cities, rather than the BBC. The methodology usually used by the Centre for Cities classes 'Burnley' as the boroughs of Hyndburn, Pendle and Burnley, which can skew the figures somewhat. No doubt the prevailing narrative is accura...

Re: Trip to USA
We went to Boston and New York a few years ago (I'd recommend both) but also included a few days in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York and a few days of beach holiday on the Jersey Shore. The Catskills are well worth visiting- some amazing scenery and walking (watch out for bears), small tow...

I understand we need planning permission but why should the council say we need to do X Y and Z in the town centre to improve disabled facilities at the turf? Would need planning permission and building...

Re: Stadio Olimpico (And Rome generally)
Once you are in the centre of Rome you are best off walking round, in my view. Most of main sights v close together, and plenty to see in between. Plenty of high quality, low price pizza to be had from takeaway outlets dotted around, sold by weight. Worth having a walk around the grounds of Villa Bo...

Re: Losing faith in CAMRA
I'm not entirely sure it's a golden age for real age, I think it's gone back to the dark ages. The amount of pumps is often a sign of badly kept ale, as a proliferation of 'vinegar' of one's choice, as the beers don't get sold as quickly and the pipes contend with different ales being put on. I sti...

Re: Lincoln's Goal.
The chap is in all that space to put the ball back across because Barnes is blocked off by Rhead, before the ball comes over. Rhead has no intention of playing the ball - it's clearly a worked - and well drilled - routine to get the guy free for the header back across. Should have been a free kick (...
