The best bit about Taylor is his innate ability to go down in stages like a galloping racehorse with shin splints with a sort of schoolboy innocence and the refs buy it every time. Gets us loads of dangerous free kicks in their territory. Love him to bits.

This is my 5th summer in the high desert of New Mexico and it’s actually the coolest yet. Most days rarely a 100 but today was 106. Interestingly from July 4th onwards is rainy season but this year the clouds gather and just suffocate us with humidity , not releasing the moisture.

It’s quite weird.

I watched it live on whatever US tv channel it was on and for the first time realized what a player Defour could be. He was a metronome that we played along to..Like Barcelona’s tiki taca but with an incisive pass into danger areas that would **** the crap out of defenders.

Great topic for scientists and data analysts would be the rejection of physicality in the appreciation of younger players. A model or algorithm could work out that if your dad was 6’2 and your mum 5’4 you could stop clubs rejecting you as “too small” when you’re only 15

When I first moved to Virginia I came across the phenomenon ThunderSnow! I have no idea how it happens, but it was snowing and thundering and lightening at the same time. Never saw it in Florida , Kentucky , or since in New Mexico.

I like Ramsdale. But I don’t think he’s what we need. There’s a lot of flash Harry about him but he rarely comes for a cross without it being panic stations. (Eddies defense ,basically). If we need to replace Nick we should go for someone of similar commandeering attitude.

Don’t think Dyche likes that type of CM though? All our CMs over the last 7 years have been athletic, two touch, move it on quickly players who can put a foot in and tackle. None of them above 6 ft.

Spent the last 2 days at the daughters where it was only 98f. They’re higher up at 6000ft above sea level. Down here in the desert lands (4000ft asl) it was 104f when I got home

Anyone question him for the 2nd goal a bit? I think Taylor or Mee would have busted a gut to get back on the line to clear, whereas Pieters took the option of covering the pass to the middle which was always going to be the lesser of the 2 dangers.
