Re: Who had a rattle?

I had one which was used to full effect in a game against Spurs in 1962 which we won 2 1. My Dad and I caught the 1 o'clock Ribble from Littleborough and were in our Wing Stand seats by 2pm (cost 7 shillings and 3/6) total 50p in today's money. Great read Tony. As I came off that game in 1965 as an inconsolable 10 year old an old Utd fan patted my head and said "never mind son, it will be your turn one day". That day came yesterday!

A bit harsh? An over- exuberant celebration of clean bowling Root. Definitely due to the totting up procedure as I saw little wrong with the celebration of Root's wicket. Blimey, I can think of a number of players in the CLL back in the day who wouldn't have played much if that was the benchmark fo...

I think I am right when I say I saw his debut for the first team at home against West Ham. I don't think we, or indeed the West Ham defence including Bobby Moore, had seen anything like him. I remember 2 'Ellen Smith Rochdale' coaches outside the Turf every home game in the 60's and 70's. Ellen Smith ran coaches to every home game from Rochdale/Littleborough (and many away games) in the Sixties as did Yelloway. They also ran coaches to Man Ure and City. So when we played them the coach...

Pierre wasn't in the original line-up, but certainly on some of their best known. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and accept that the better side won. They have bowled and fielded better and then there is Steve Smith. We can still salvage a drawn series at The Oval. But quite frankly we dont really deserve it. Time for a rethink and rebuild.

All of the above were annoying. But the game that left me scarred for life was a cup tie at Old Trafford in 1965. We went 1 up early on and held out until the last 10 minutes when UTD equalised.
