Re: How did you end up supporting Burnley?

Esso! Back in the 70’s you get tokens, stickers or a even badges with your petrol. One year they had the 22 top players of the British Isles and the only three choices, if you were Welsh, were Toshak, Mike England or Leighton James. The rest is history. First game was Hereford Utd away in 76. Been h...

Re: Aiden O’Neill

Didn’t he move ‘home’ due to family circumstances in the first place?

Would be great for him to make it but I suspect as he isn’t pulling up any trees in A League it won’t be initially at the EPL level as it known over here.

An update on our forgotten midfielder... Aiden O,Neill, currently on loan at the Central Coast Mariners in the Australian A League (they play at a curious three sided stadium in Gosford, a few hours north of Sydney) scored a goal, and was given a yellow card, in the CCM match against Sydney City yes...

When we went 23 games unbeaten we were often battered during that run. Did we win 1-3 away at Huddersfield? I remember watching that game here in Oz and thinking they were by far the better team. We were clinical in attack and resolute in defence. Both aspects of our game have been on the wane for s...

Wingbacks playing in front of full backs stopped the opposition getting a clear run at our back four. Thanks Gawthorpe View, I think it’s the players who enabled us to play a 442 come 424 with such ease is what I’m trying to say. Arfield and Boyd most certainly protected our full backs whilst Barto...

I wonder to what extent the loss of these players has hurt us this year? We have lost capable midfield players and undoubted lost a degree of aggression and bite in the middl of the field. However, have we also lost the dressing room spirit that was so important in recent seasons? I’d take Arfield b...

Not sure we can quote our current system, it’s changing game by game. One positive of today and the last few weeks is that we have moved away from the rigid 442 and even moved back today when we needed to. Still a believer in an away/ any top 6 formation and a 442 against lesser teams. Agreed. It’s...

Tough call on Bardsley as he has been effective against the north London clubs. We paid the price for this tinkering for sure. Should we have stuck with the defence that worked well enough in our last two games?

Fair standard of football payed in a vast stadium (Suncorp) which is normally a 1/5th full - that’s the Australian A-League for you.
