I have a feeling this deal will eventually get done, albeit maybe not until the summer. That said, the story about us looking to bring in Holding from Arsenal could have been a smokescreen designed to put pressure on Forest to make a decision.

With hindsight, he took a real gamble running his contract down. He’d already had two knee injuries (one very bad) and there was always a risk he could break down again. As it was, he was lucky in that his next bad injury came shortly after he had signed for Liverpool, but if it had come at the end ...
