One of the best comedy series around, one I would take with me to a desert island. Played off the basic stereotypical characteristics of the French, German and English to a tee. Kaye's accent and timing were great, RIP Renay!

Hartlepool in the cold driving rain in an open-topped stand but a good real ale pub in the town.
Carlisle where Burnley fans took over the pub across from the ground but had to use the back door.
Rochdale where the Cemetery Inn was appropriately named.

The London Clarets Newsletter was an amazing source of information, match reports and opinions on all things Burnley in the days pre-Internet. Lovingly put together by dedicated southern Clarets who liked the odd pint of real ale too. Trust the lads whose names all ended in o are still going strong....

The Guardian too are very negative about the game - "truly appalling tie, anything to relieve the tedium etc". Not how I saw it, a decent tie between 2 evenly matched teams which Burnley definitely shaded and should have won. You sometimes wonder whether reporters actually attend and watch...
