Let the cat out of the bag was the cat o nine tails which was kept in a bag and only brought out prior to a sailor receiving a lashing. One would assume a friendly would be used to test out strengths and weaknesses.... why on earth would we want to give a heads up to the Premiership of what we may be trying out to unsettle them?

If you ever get chance to hear Tennyson recite the Charge of the Light Brigade I highly recommend it. There is a tintype recording that gets played occasionally.... he portrays horror in a way no English lecturer has ever been able to replicate. It is really moving.
