Two more from Shanks

When he signed Big Ron Yeats from Dundee United he said this to the assembled journalists “Take a walk around my centre half, gentlemen, He’s a colossus!”

Of one player who didn’t try to hard, Shankly said: “He has a heart as big as a caraway seed.”

Swansea were time wasting and after the sending off Burnley were avoiding injury and conserving energy for Wednesday. The probability of another goal was almost non existent.

I would not be surprised if the fourth official asked both managers if they fancied knocking off earlier.

Let's spin that - do you think we should have won more games now than we have done? There's nothing wrong with being a glass-half-empty person, it just gets a bit tiresome here, especially after we've just won. Glass half empty/full is too black and white. 13 games in, it's all grey. So far the evi...

The simple fact is that we are not winning enough games to say that we are good enough to go up, except via the play off lottery. In the last two promotion seasons we won 26 out 46 games which means now we need to win 21 out of the remaining 33 games to equal that, quite a big ask. OK maybe the othe...

We've averaged 70.6% possession so far. In the last six seasons only nine teams have averaged 60% or more and all but one have finished top six. The stats are very much on our side.
Conversely the opposition have had 30% possession and scored as many goals and taken as many points as Burnley.
