Why's that? Seems a relatively simple option to me.

The wording says 'a future season ticket' rather than a '20/21 season ticket'. There's a reason why whoever wrote the article worded it like that (potentially).

This sentence was in the article on the official website back in May:

'We aim to process all requested refunds by Friday 26th June.'
