Re: "It is not easy to be an accountant in football"
Brighton were paying £1.3m per year to rent their ground and training complex on previous accounts. You could argue it’s wooden dollars. I wonder why Bloom isn’t writing the debt off? The reason is likely that he expects it back, and there will come a day when that debt gets called in. That’s when t...

Re: Financial fair play
Just think about it. FFP prevents fairy tales like Jack Walker enabling his small town club to compete with the big boys. Why would anyone other than your tight assed board be happy with that? One minute they are crying foul when someone suggests they bought the title, and the next they are talking...

Re: Rovers 6 points over easter
The biggest budget quite often gets you the most success, and Blackburn’s past is littered with seasons of success when someone has allowed them one of the biggest budgets. It’s no surprise they’re up there when a club like Portsmouth, one of the biggest clubs in that division with 17,000 crowds, ha...

Rovers fans pretending they’re boycotting, or have boycotters (I don’t mean 100 who have principles), to explain away the non-attendance. Rubbish! If there was truly a boycott going on they’d have 3,000 crowds by now, not the same or bigger crowds than when previously at that level. They even have a...

We did, it's not even up for debate. We were so financially f**ked Kilby had to persuade fans to pay for 2 season tickets at once by offering refunds on the 2nd year tickets. ITV Digital collapsed 7 years prior to that. I’ve not read the other comments since, but yes it seems it is up for debate. W...

In 2008/09 we needed to be propped up financially to reach the PL, what's your point? They have, but they are allowed a total of £39m over a moving 3 years period. From the losses you see I’d imagine they claim a few million are to do with their academy, which doesn’t count as losses for FFP.bfcjg wrote:They've consistently made losses.

I also wonder if they’ll just spend a fortune to try and sneak promotion to the Premier League*, or are they doomed to another relegation fight where Venky’s might then say ‘enough is enough’? I remember trying to do the workings out based upon a Luton Town statement on their sell on fee, and I think I worked it out that we’d paid £5.7m up front guaranteed. Outside Wigan there is zero challenge in the division for Blackburn. Even shrewsbury aren’t good. It seemed to feel when we were last down there 18 years ago that the standard was a little better, although it probably wasn’t.

You’re right, CFC. I really do hope we spend a little on the ground soon though, whilst we have the riches. Building a big ground does not a big club make. Wigan do better now than you’d normally expect because of the Prem years, but the tickets sold thing disguises the real attendances. The same with Reading in that the 8,000 announced may have been 5-6,000. Regardless of the size, Reading never seems to...
