Re: January Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
No worries about Kenny. Just give Bards a couple more years. He’s only marginally older than the bulk of the rest of the team anyway. Job done.

Re: When we're allowed back in
The government has said every adult in the U.K. will be offered a vaccination by September. If they hold to that (and it’s going well so far) and the vaccines are effective as claimed then surely there’s no reason for grounds not to be fully open by September. Aside from the fact that you need two ...

Re: 4 contract extensions
Can’t blame Dunne for turning down a contract when Long was picked in front of him earlier in the season. Obviously not content with the Kev Long approach to a career. Not knocking Long - fair play to him, easy money isn’t it and doubtless very good money at that.

Incredibly we’re still in it. Villa have some good young players and play football. We’re by and large a bunch of old triers with a single tactic. “Have it” football.

Vydra simply isn’t a regular Premier League goalscorer, he needs far too many chances. I suspect Championship or so is more his level. Wood and JR are our best options. We need a younger striker to challenge the more established.

No they shouldn't be vaccinated. Instead they should pause the season (who really cares at this stage ?) and put the players to use in the vaccination roll out. They're going to be using some of the stadiums as vaccination hubs so why not the players ?

Was on the bench v Wolves. Not suited to us though, and I don't think we'll be seeing much of him at all barring an injury crisis. I don't know why people are piling on Barnes now. He's always been the most "meat and two veg" type player. Accordingly he entriely suits our "style" of play and general approach. He's always been a limited bruiser who we hit it long to. Nothing has changed.

Stephens is a decent enough player but just not what we wanted as in he’s pretty similar to the two other 30 something(ish) defensive midfielders that we’ve got. If anything it will just hinder Benson’s development as he won’t get a sniff now.

Over the last few games i'd like to see the stats that suggest KL has deserved to be selected ahead of JD. Jimmy Dunne has looked really focused and up for it. But SD tends to go for experience. I wonder why the offers never come ? I’ve assumed it’s because of his playing “style”, lack of experience (or interest) in the foreign markets, disregard of youth (couple of exceptions obviously) but generally he’ll sign, or pick, the old lads (example currently; Long getting the nod over Dunne). Dyche wouldn’t be here if it had got an offer over summer. He didn’t which wasn’t entirely unsurprising as it appears he hasn’t had that many serious suitors during his tenure here. If the rumoured salary he’s on is correct then you’re probably just going to sit aren’t you ?

I don’t think Stephens is a bad player he’s just not the player we needed - another 30+ defensive workhorse. We desperately needed something different. Surely our scouting network extends beyond the same old targets (literally). It’s a little desperate.

Hard to disagree with anything said to date on this thread. When did we become so scared of youth or anything “foreign” Our recruitment network seems so incredibly short sighted. We are the most “hard Brexit” of clubs. It’s utterly joyless.
