Re: Penalty takers

I remember Alan Shearer once telling how a young Michael Owen asked for his advice on how to take a penalty during a shoot-out.

He said "do what you normally do, pick a spot and hit the f*****g ball into the back of the net"

Not Southgates fault "one of the best strikers in the world" balloons a static ball 20 feet over the bar from 12 yards out. As a wise manager of BFC once said "you've 192 square feet to aim at and all you have to do is miss the goalie" At least FIFA have denied there is any agenda to this World Cup ...

Re: Junior Clarets Christmas party

According to my 10 year old grandson who is a junior claret member there is no Christmas party. He said there is an event on called 'Turf &Tinsel' (or something like that) for kids aged up to 12 on the 22nd December. Apparently it's a separate paid thing where the kids get a ground tour, play a few ...

Think Pickford needs a lot of credit for his contribution to that win- brilliant one handed save to deny Senegal a 1-0 lead.

We seemed to really buck up from that point and never looked in any danger when we scored not long after.

Good dominant performance from England, there was a time we'd have scraped an excruciating 1-0 win against teams like Iran. What the heck is going on with VAR though, that's 3 'dubious' decisions in 2 games, doesn't bode well for the rest of the tournament if those are setting the standard for revie...

Lowton did ok and looked up for it as did McNally.

Hard to judge how they would do against stronger opposition though as Crawley basically sat back and let us have possession for 90% of the game.
