Canadian Grand Prix.

I used to be an avid F1 fan, not so much nowadays due to several reasons, including the ever increasing gap between the ‘have teams’ and the ‘have less teams’…….sound familiar? However I do enjoy watching the Canadian GP from Montreal. It’s always very well attended, the drivers appear to enjoy the ...

exile, it really shouldn't surprise you whatever Trump does, considering what his political base is. "America First" says it all. That Trump's greatest political allies are Putin and Kim Jung-un really says it all, isolationist xenophobes. Go to any southern small town in the States and see what th...

Re: Worst so called tourist location you have visited ?

Niagara Falls, New York is an industrial city (minus most of the old industry), home of Nabisco and Carborundum. Even the American Falls are inferior to the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side. Niagara Falls, Ontario home to Oneida Electroplating, but mostly relies on tourists. Niagara-on-the-Lake...

Re: Worst so called tourist location you have visited ?

Niagara. not the falls which are simply breathtaking but Niagara the town on the Canadian side. It makes Southend and Blackpool look like 5 star resorts. I can’t disagree, however they’re doing a decent job cleaning it up. Conversely, Niagara-on-the Lake just up the road from Niagara is a lovely vi...

It’s really beyond my comprehension as to why Trump has chosen to alienate his major allies (Mexico not withstanding) with such tariffs. I’m sure many of you guys have relatives, friends, acquaintances….dead or alive…….who fought, died or maimed, shoulder to shoulder with Yanks in conflicts around t...

No question in my mind, ‘Old Quebec City’. Just like someone picked up a European walled city and placed in Quebec. Beautiful place, great food. Old Montreal’s not too shabby either.

Re: Supermarine Spitfire

The North American B-25 Mitchell and the Avro Lancaster are very similar. The name Avro probably leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of some older Canadians. Before I arrived on these shores , A.V. Roe developed the Avro Arrow, a high altitude, high speed fighter jet to match, if not exceed anything...

I was following the game at work via the BBC Sport text version. Needless to say, during the duration of the game work responsibilities tended to take a back seat. After the game I thought to myself ‘what the hell just happened, we’re back in the promised land!’ We could have stayed up too, had a ce...

Re: Clubs to be fined

The Premier League prohibits and will fine players or managers making political messages. The NFL and US Govt are two separate things. The NFL is a business and a brand, and so can make its own rules, move on. While I agree with the above, apparently ‘Frump’ has stuck his oar in saying……to paraphra...

Re: Sad, So Sad

I gave up even trying to watch it on TV, not because I think there is anything wrong with it, it's that I could never see the bloody puck. Funny you should say that. Many years ago a TV network, Fox, if memory serves, devised technology so a red arrow followed the puck around the ice, probably to a...

Shame about Winnipeg going out, as the city would have gone wild with a win - probably more so than Vegas will after they beat the Caps. :) Yes, a “Winterpeg” win would have excited the city no end, and rightly so! Conversely, I would guess the vast majority of Vegas residents have no clue Vegas HA...

Re: Sad, So Sad

They loosened up the rules in order to make the team "competitive". Also, there was only one team drafting, where, in the past, there's always been at least two. Vegas has the biggest defence in the league, and the best goalie. Hard to believe that Fleury was on the bench while Pittsburgh won the l...

The Lake District brings back memories from my younger days.
