It's amazing the lack of competition for these top jobs, Silverwood only moved to coach Essex a few years ago (2015?) and is hardly experienced. It is big jump up for him, I wish him luck.

ty - Gleeson gets 47 wickets at 20, Mahmood 21 at 30 yet Mahmood is the England pick, any comments?
Similarly for Parkinson, I guess they are younger but it's tough on Gleeson and possibly Bailey.

An excellent programme which shows Lancashire and its league cricket in a good light. Learie Constantine was reckoned to be the highest paid sportsman in the country during his time at Nelson. Hall, Griffiths and Richards all speak with affection for their time as professionals.

Agreed mdd2 a game that will last in the memory for ever.
Maurice Setters had already "knocked seven bells out of Mac", that was the problem. Along with Jimmy Scoular and Eddie Clamp, Mac reckoned these 3 the hardest he played against though the Burnley side of 59/60 could hand it out too.

The Aussie bowling attack are far from average. The unit as a whole is the best they have sent over, that I have seen. Agreed, an excellent fivesome who can easily be rotated. Root and Stokes are our only test class batsmen, Smith and Labuschagne for the Aussies.
Theirs are better than ours as are their bowlers, we are currently very weak at test cricket.

A poor night all round, disappointing attendance and very heavy dew often affects the side bowling second at the Riverside. Davies' innings was superb but the Lancs captaincy a bit dumb. Livingstone had a shocker with both bat and ball.
It might have been better playing the match in Essex!?
