He's a mixed bag. A lot of the time I think his arrogance is pretence but then when you read about him running after a referee in a car park because he robbed him of a title it's just not on. He always had this ambition/obsession with winning the CL with three clubs. It caused him his downfall IMO. ...

I don't think you can take good free kicks without practising. Certain skills can be innate e.g. dribbling.

What surprises me is that ST has only scored once from a free-kick this season.

Concerning Matkovic, the latest news in the Croatian media, is that he signed a long-term deal with his club Osijek end december. The last rumours in the Croatian media concerning Romano seem to date back to last year when he linked him with Everton, RB Salzburg and Sassuolo.

This is my understanding of a sweeper was but it doesn't sound like Beckenbauer played that way - especially if he was in a back four. The Italian way, with the sweeper behind the back four... How did that work with offsides? They didn't play for offsides. They considered that too dangerous. The fi...

In 1974 he played alongside Schwarzenbeck in central defence. The latter was a stopper. Lacked mobility but was there as a rampart and to win balls in the air. Beckenbauer would trigger attacking moves. He was very comfortable on the ball, an excellent passer and the brain of the team. https://en.wi...

Everything's subjective but one of the best liberos. Rudi Krol and Franco Baresi were, IMHO, his main competitors as a libero who liked to attack.

After a difficult start our lads have now gone eight unbeaten. We're third in the League although we've played two games more than most other teams. We are though the only team to have beaten leaders Birmingham. Of course, we also knocked them out on penalties in the FA Youth Cup.

He certainly has a presence.

He's so used to wanting to get his team moving that he gets frustrated and is liable to choose a bad option. Last season was easy for him from that point of view. I honestly think he'd fit in with a better PL team than us where his players had more time on the ball.
