Re: Have we reached our peak?
Still very much on the upward ascent - I would have thought the next objective has to be taking points from 4 successive away games. Still feels a bit vulnerable that we are so reliant on our form at TM.

Re: Sunderland fans
That's as well balanced as most things you'd read on here. Maybe a couple of years ago Sean would have been interested if the opportunity had come up but there's no way he would have been given the time to build something sustainable there. I'm sure he's appreciative of the freedom he has here to do...

Re: Slightly disappointed with a point
It's a fantastic result and coupled with others this weekend takes us a huge step nearer safety - but if you try and look at it objectively, just based on the 90 minutes, then yes we possibly should have. Interesting, games against the top clubs, big chance for Sam when we played Arsenal at TM. Scot...

Re: Darikwa linked with Brizzle City
Decent cover, similar to Long at CB. Realistically if everyone's fit and available he's going to struggle to start but unless we have players coming through the system who are good enough to be in and around the first team would seem pointless to sell him and then have to pay for someone similar as ...

Re: Swansea v Leicester
Something has to change. At this stage of the season, in February, the only thing that can be changed is the manager. In the hope that he can get a reaction which produces the 3/4 wins which would probably make the difference - as has happened at Swansea. Would be a big call though as Leicester's pl...

Re: Ian Wright on 5Live
Great player for us and thoroughly professional - especially considering he'd played most of his career at the highest level. His influence in getting us promoted not dissimilar to Joey's contribution last season. As a pundit, tends to react more like a fan, which doesn't add a great deal of value/i...

He gives us superb game management in there, for all their various qualities none of our other CMs come close in that respect. All the effort, energy and running that comes as standard from our players is channeled by Barton into something that bit more effective and meaningful. Would be a great ass...

Re: Matt Lowton
That's as well as I've seen him play. Defensively his positional sense was excellent and he broke up play really effectively. Boyd has to take a lot of the credit on that flank, he's a great defensive shield. Shame Lowton couldn't cap the display with a goal but he regularly gets into some great att...

Re: Arsenal - would they be better off if Wenger left?
His personality is stamped all over the club just like SAF at United. Following him after a 20 plus year stint and maintaining that level of consistency would be nearly impossible. Maybe the manager after the manager after Wenger would be the better job.

Re: 10 more points
Without wishing to state the obvious then avoiding defeat in the 5 away games against the teams currently on 21 points or less reduces the number of points we'll need to survive and prevents them closing the gap on us. Relatively little damage done when you look at yesterday's result in isolation bu...

Re: Interested in your views . . . Defoe, should he be in the England squad?
Thought Sunderland were dead and buried the day we beat them 4-1 but not so sure now. That was a huge result today. Defoe is something else. Not only his goal scoring ability but his presence alone should create opportunities for team mates to exploit - if they are good enough to do it - and that's ...

Re: Watford v Burnley - Player Ratings
I wasn't there. We played for 88/89 minutes 10 v 11, lost 2-1 and might even have scored a leveller at the end. Would appreciate hearing more about how, given those circumstances, Boyd can be scored a 3 and Gray, who played some of the game out of position, a 4. Sounded like everyone put in a huge s...

Re: Midfield crisis?
Even with Hendrick in the team it would be optimistic to expect anything from the Chelsea game. We shouldn't be reliant on him for Lincoln (he probably wouldn't have started anyway) so Hull is the big one of the three for which he is banned. I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere but Barton has as...

Re: Eddie Howe
You sense they have enough firepower to win games and steer them clear of the drop. However, similarly to Palace, that doesn't count for much if you can't stop the goals going in at the other end. Biggest concern for Bournemouth is have they got the type of players who can grind out the results when...

It's a tremendous effort yet again but really we should have got something from 4 of our last 5 aways. West Ham - wrong tactics. City - failed to take the initiative at 11 v 10. Arsenal got too deep after equalizing. Today red card cost us. They're all situations typical of a team learning at this l...

Our wide options look much better than our central ones for at least the next three games. Arfield definitely has a role to play, after Barton and Westwood assume he's next in line to play CM.

Re: Lincoln allocation and prices
What some Lincoln fans seem to have overlooked in their understandable excitement at reaching this stage is that we're serious about winning this. Surely if the FA rules state that the away team is allowed a 15% allocation then we have treated them the same as we would have treated say Liverpool or ...

Re: Our best year ever?
Was thinking about 1973/74 after the cup draw paired us with Lincoln. We'd been 2nd division champions the previous season. Got some good fortune in terms of who we drew out of the hat and got to the semi-finals of the FA Cup - finished 6th in the 1st division. We're not going to quite hit some of t...

If there really is a chance that Hull are cashing in their assets then Sam Clucas would go a long way to filling the CM gap left by Dean Marney.

Sean is rapidly turning Hendrick into a PL quality midfielder who consistently delivers. The quality and depth we've got across midfield, central and wide, with players who can cover more than one role, is the biggest difference between this and our last PL season. A big enough difference to enable ...

Would be a surprise if they went down but he has got off to a very poor start - losing at home to Swansea has to be a huge concern. Assume he will strengthen his defence in the remainder of the window but even so unlikely that they can get 10 more points than us in the 17 remaining games. Would pref...

Only Crewe's continued reluctance to sack managers has kept him in post this long - practically every other club would have fired him either during or at the end of last season.
Moves Sean one more place up the list of longest serving PL/FL managers.

Anyone know who some of the players were in that picture from the German competition - great picture btw, never seen that before or even knew we played in such a tournament.
I recognize, Willie Morgan, Dave Merrington, Colin Blant and Ralph Coates - plus maybe Mick Buxton?

We've played 7 of the top 9 plus defending champions Leicester - we've beaten Liverpool (3rd), Everton (6th) and Watford (7th) and drawn twice. We're already putting good distance between ourselves and the bottom 3 who all look in real trouble at the moment. Defour is nearing a return meaning we can...

Come January we're going to struggle to keep hold of Keane it would appear. Sunderland already look in real trouble - last season they appointed Big Sam under similar circumstances and he performed a minor miracle primarily by getting a huge return out of Defoe. Moyes really doesn't look equipped to repeat that, regardless of getting injured players back. Hull are getting i...
