Couldn't see any game plan yesterday. And our inability to get the ball away at goal kicks and retain possession was both farcical and wholly inadequate. Might have helped if Trafford didn't keep passing the ball to his team mates heels instead of in front of them.

Perhaps the worst defeat I've seen for a long time. The 20 mins. or so either side of half time were appalling. They looked like they would score every time they attacked. Our passing was poor and ball retention even worse. 2-5 and a proper mauling.

Went to grammar school in Salford in the 1960's. Still meet up in Manchester with a few of them 3 or 4 times a year. Already been chatting with one of them regarding ticket allocation but he's in the dark as much as we are. Interesting night ahead though.

Finished 12th and 6th at Munich. The Finnish runner, Lasse Viren was his nemesis as far as medals were concerned. Bedford was very much like Ron Clarke a.decade before him though not in the same class. Both ran better against the clock.
