We did in October 1972. He had scored 4 goals for us in Division 2 at the time and we had drawn at home to QPR in early September with Viv Busby scoring for them and Frank Casper equalising 3 minutes later. We lost 0-2 at QPR with goals coming from Leach and Givens in January 1973. I went to the aw...

I dont dislike JBG, and he has had some great seasons with us. However for all his skills he looks slow and ponderous. OK last night he cut in and scored a beauty with his left foot. However how often do you see us break, give it to him on the right wing, and expect him to beat his man and cross wi...

Jimmy Mac used to tell a story about his early days at Burnley, when he first played against Newcastle at St James' Park, their team including the noted " hard man " Jimmy Scoular. Scoular hailed from the largely Protestant area to the West of Glasgow, and gave Jimmy Mac a few stern tackles before ...

Conceding late on is a problem. I'm not convinced about Muric's ability. He doesn't look that confident to me. Poor performance last night by our standards. But we remain unbeaten, we are difficult to beat and I'm still optimistic. I think the other teams around us know Burnley are the ones to watc...

Blackburn have played 2 more games than Burnley so don’t worry they are above us. Look at their stats…they either win or lose but no draws. We will finish above them because Burnley either win or draw….only 1 loss. UTC! [/quot If we were to go back to two points for a win, we'd be a point above them.

Pope for me with Heaton a close second. Stevo was a very good keeper but even at his peak there was always a slight frailty there….and I mean slight. He was excellent in 81/82 but lost confidence disastrously in 82/83 and his loss of form was definitely a factor in our relegation that year. He lost...

I've just been watching a few YouTube videos on the rivalry between KV and Racing Mechelen. Fierce, indeed. The last match was in 2004 and had to be abandoned with KV winning at Racing 2-0. The only thing this squad really needs is a forward. Suspect the ideal is a Chris Wood/Keinan Davis type - someone with physical presence (we need it in both boxes) and the mobility to run in behind and instinct to play on the shoulder. Obafemi is sort of in that mould- the thing that struck me is ...

We're one of the best now but in the second half of the season we'll be pumping teams every week.
