The only word I can recall being used in Burnley I’ve not heard anywhere else is agate used as a verb to mean to say - he said, she said etc. Used in a very Burnley way with the word were - so he were agate I fondly recall my mother, a Liverpudlian, despairing at the corruption of the Queens Englis...

Aways having been interested in Lanky history and folklore from an early age, having put mi thinkin cap on since this thread started, a rake more commonly used local sayings have come to mind. Piccy of outside The Woodman on Tod Rd just turned 11am this morning. Front and side doors both open
Presumably known about beforehand by police and quite a lot of fans.
Doors stayed open throughout and after the game. No trouble whatsoever.

We didn't play on the day I was born -'twas a Monday - but the Saturday before we won 1-0 at Chesterfield and the Saturday after we beat Swansea 2-0 at home.

Just about to post this sad news Tony, 'Accy Sue' rang me last night to let me know.

Terry's contributions were always interesting and although he was a headmaster, he took and gave as good as he got in all the mickey taking and banter which made the group such a good craic.

All having a pint in the Woodman. Not the horses. Forty three of 'em all gathered within 50 yards of the place, quite an impressive sight. Was told some had come from from as far away as the North East and the Midlands. At least one of the horses had some bevvy,- I watched one with it's head tilted...
