Re: That penalty.
This justs highlights everything that's wrong with the modern game. IMO a penalty should only be awarded when a player is denied a goal scoring opportunity. Silva wasn't denied a scoring opportunity, he would never have scored from there and wouldn't have even been able to make one running away fro...

Re: That penalty.
Under what law is it a penalty? There's no way it could be said that Benson tripped him because their man threw himself down - he was on his way down before the contact. I don't think obstruction is a direct free kick offence yet - or is it? I agree that most refs would give that as a penalty nowad...

How did he do in the violent conduct which should have been a red card? Would love to see that again and not a still. It was looked at from more than 1 perspective. Look at player reaction. Nobody was screaming for it. Guarantee if there was a stamp there would have been massive.claret reaction.

Re: Burnley v Wolves - Matchday Thread
Just a shame he misses the obvious stuff. The tackle from Taylor where the camera was pitchside at the time was as clean as you can get. Podence clatters into him and gets the free kick. Sorry but that is basic stuff for a referee. You mean about 65 to 75 min in? The wolves.player was first to the ...

At least 7 or 8 advantages and let the game flow.

Pathetic from Dyche tonight. Why spend money on an Academy and put two keepers on the bench? Even if you have no intention of playing the kid, two keepers is a **** take. The last one he didn't start was at Everton in the next to last match of 2018/19 but he'd played in the previous 17 and then all 38 last season and all 13 now this season. I got that to 70 but I've just checked and he came on as a sub in that Boxing Day debacle against Everton so that makes it 71 w...

Re: ALK Capital or Farnell/Elkashashy takeover
For all those against the takeover we have two options, 1. Carry on as we are and see how long we can continue to 'punch above our weight' before almost certain relegation & loss of key players Or 2. Trust the current board to get the best deal possible for our club and move it forward. I know whic...

The honest answer is tough luck. You should have delayed your substitution until you knew the outcome of the decision.Dark Cloud wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 9:11 amSpot on there New Claret. What if you made a sub and then found it was one of your guys who was walking!?

Re: Red card and sub incident last night.
I think technically the sub isn't complete until not only has the new player come on, but also the old player has gone off. The 4th official shouldn't allow the new player on until the old one has gone off, but it does happen occasionally. I remember once Ian Measham was on the stretcher and they a...

Re: Red card and sub incident last night.
The club chooses the moment to make the substitution. Once the player has been allowed on then the substitution is complete and the laws do no allow a reversal under any circumstances. Worth noting this can only happen if the ball is out of play If a club decides to make it knowing there is a VAR re...

I'm not sure how you can respect a decision when it's been looked at countless times and he gets it absolutely wrong. Two hands in the face of another player is violent conduct, nothing less, and Elneny just had to walk. In your opinion Tony The referee didn't think it was violent. That is football...

Re: Penalty?
Just occurred to me, when Tarkowski was thrown to the floor in the box last night, why wasn't it a penalty? So far I have read he was thrown to the floor, punched in the face, slapped, jockeying for position. All of which in law carry a very different sanction from nothing all the way up to a red c...

Re: Referee's Post-Match Homework
You are the official? Was it violent conduct? This is the subjectivity of the match official at the time. Whether I agree or not I believe he thought it was a coming together, jockeying for position trying to fend off his opponent rather than an act of deliberate violent conduct. Hence the decision...

I imagine the majority of people playing Saturday/Sunday football never received a Yellow or Red card.
