The difference nowadays is that there is far more scrutiny of decisions, that's all. Whereas back in the days of Clive Thomas etc. there was little in the way of post match analysis. When he famously blew his whistle in the match between Brazil & Sweden, denying Brazil a goal, it would have been tal...

That's about a new single issue, where they are still working out what's what. However, you can hear the discussions between the ref and the off field officials. Football is light year's behind. I think the quote from that rugby article seems to be applicable to any sport though, not just football:...

Absolutely and what the ref sees is via the big screen, so the crowd can as well. Also he can ask for other angles. I've said it before, if it's done like RU, it's as open as possible. So why not for football. Is it because the powers that be want it like it is? Obviously you haven't been watching ...

Scrapping VAR wouldn't solve the problems of terrible decision making. The problem is the officials controlling it. Rather like a car is only as good as the driver. If we cannot trust officials, and I don't, it has to be taken out of their hands, or at least give them help. Create a panel, include ...

Interesting that Rugby is often used as how VAR is being used properly & correctly, but as has been seen quite a few times in the rugby world cup it's just as much open to mistakes as football is. Especially when it's down to the opinion of the referee and those operating TMO.

One thing that's noticeable is his ability to anticipate crosses cut back into the box. It's a very underestimated skill that many strikers don't have.
