New Book - History of Irish Football
I know there are a few Irish Clarets on here - whether it's by birth, marriage, emigration to the Emerald Isle, whatever. A mate of mine, Alan Hannify, has spent lockdown writing a book about the history of Irish football through the prism of 12 pivotal football matches involving the national side. ...

I know this isn't how it's done, I'd always like the points deduction to be in current season, limited to the minimum number of points that relegate the club and then the balance that is left deducted in the following season. So, if a club finishes in bottom three, before points deduction, they hav...

I still have scars on my knees from the carpet burns from doing a knee slide in my living room when Martin Paterson scored. The commentary is brilliant; the "Goodness me" from Bill Leslie is genuine astonishment when the ball flies past Hahnemann. You watch this coverage and wonder what the hell Owe...

They could change it back to its original name of Marsden. No need to erase history, just revert to a previous name. Bit like a divorce.expoultryboy wrote: ↑Thu Jun 11, 2020 1:55 pmIf they pull down Nelson's column , we'll have to rename that town between Brierfield and Colne !!

Going back to the OP - which is about renaming London streets on the basis that some people find the current names offensive - it is worth pointing out that every Germanic sounding street name in London was renamed after the First World War because they didn't want to be reminded of the b*stards tha...

Been to Australia twice and loved it. Always remember taking some verbals from a loud-mouthed local in a small bar in Cairns who claimed that Poms can't hold their beer. We drank him under the table, much to the amusement of the bar owner.

Tony, what's the story behind the sale of Wayne Biggins? Did Cavanagh not rate him or was it Biggins who was agitating for a move? I remember being gutted that he'd been sold as he was the only person likely to score goals in that team. Thinking about it, Norwich really pulled our trousers down that...

I’ve been brewing all-grain beers for 20+ years. Had the occasional iffy brew but nothing so bad that it’s undrinkable. Just as you’d find when going to the pub, some beers suit your palate better than others. Loving the hoppy IPAs at the moment and have brewed stouts that are genuinely pub quality....

Three highlights of that season:
1) Neil Grewcock scoring a 25 yarder at Burnden Park
2) Scoring two goals in a minute to beat Preston at home
3) Putting seven past Rotherham's Bobby Mimms.
Other than that, an absolute disaster of a season.

I thought gaming chairs had vibration and other stuff going through them. I'm sure some at the top end do exactly that. But my understanding is the primary aim is comfort over a long period.
