Re: Who drops off the bench.

We're not going to pay comparatively big money for us, say upwards of 8-10m, for them not to make the bench. So simple really, an upgrade on Long and an upgrade on Barnes take their places. Bardsley will drop off when Hendrick returns and Walters will also join the queue / competition for a place on...

He's a decent player,iv'e no problem with him being a back up option. Fourth choice fine, both parties are obviously happy for him to hang around, pick up his wages, but rarely play. Immediate back up in the Premier League ? No, we need better and, as others have said, it's not like we've not had l...

Re: Is today the day?

It'll be fairly amazing if we don't sign a centre half. We knew Keane was leaving from at least Christmas and that we'd be left with 3 specialists, which isn't enough. I haven't looked, but I'm confident that nearly every club in the Prem has 4 senior centre halves. An eight month lead-in should be...

Agree with this - can't see a CM happening either. At least we have the option to revert to 4-4-2 if we feel we do lack options in central midfield at some stage of the season. The options to play two up front at the minute appear a little limited though, that's why signing another forward appears ...

Thursday, I would have thought. Centre half, to provide some effective competition /cover to Mee/Tarkowski and a forward that would add some variety are the minimum requirements. Ideally we would add a player for the right wing, but if said forward can cover both positions that would be fine. I'd li...

So ultimately he's signed some strikers who were gash, but more importantly he's had pretty good striking partnerships up front when its mattered for 3 out of 4 of his full seasons in charge. I think that's fair enough to say although two main contributors, Ings and Vokes, were signed by Eddie Howe.

I think it's fair to say that SD predominantly favours a certain "type" of forward - big lads , basically. However it's a different type that we desperately need to add now, we need a cleverer, quicker technician - a number "10".

Unsurprising we've gone for what can be reasonably considered the safe option. Assume this spells the end of intetest in Andone ? If it's Wood then so be it, would have preferred a "10" type but there you go. Should be enough left to get someone in to provide serious competition to JBG and, to be at 1st September, with no better option than Long as immediate back up to Mee/Tarkowski would, frankly, be negligent.
