Re: Burnley v Southampton - Player Ratings

From watching via NBCSN here in Philly: Pope 8 - Very happy to have Nick in goal, did fine in awkward conditions apart from tangling with Mee attempting to punch in the second half. Vital and superb save from Redmond with the score still at 0-0. Lowts 7 - Steady enough. Tarks 8 - Solid in difficult ...

Looked a bit unsure first half and he and Dwight didn't seem to be helping each other, but as with the whole team, did much better second half and seemed to grow in confidence. Lovely cross for second goal. Good competition at left back now.

Daft-looking ball, although it looked very nice nestling in the net three times. Typical Barnes game that - put himself about in difficult conditions, kept plugging away, two good finishes.

Three points and 3-0 is a great start. Disjointed first half, but great finish from Ash with that early shot after seizing on the defender's misjudgment to break the deadlock, then we coped well with the conditions and looked in control. Shakes off the rust and should give everyone confidence with D...

For me, the DD signing has put a whole new positive slant on the Big Kick-Off. He will be here for a minimum half a season, I expect him to be starting games, and I think he brings a real creative spark. Combined with keeping hold of Tarka, and having Dwight here to continue to develop for another f...

Looking at the pic from 2 weeks ago, seems that with smaller plastic seats going in for the visitors, it is now more like a 50-50 split in the stand. How many extra seats has it created for Clarets, and what is the capacity increased to? The more Clarets in there the better.

The Longside dividing fence was definitely not in place during the 1974 FA Cup run. I like the expression "Muck and nettles" - have this mental image of Sean making the players crawl through them during a Dyche pre-season.
Sure, Watford did open us up a time or two but we dug in and did what we do - and came home with another 3 points.
