Re: European football....worth the risk

I still talk about the Napoli and Eintracht European games. As for another Euro campaign 50 years on, it would be another step up on our amazing recent achievements, and could only raise the profile of the club. Could it stretch our squad and resources - it might. Could it inspire fans and players a...

Re: The Watford match

First went to Watford for the final away game of the 79-80 season - already relegated, Laws made his debut, 4-0 down at HT - but we travelling Clarets stood on the open terrace in the corner kept up a raucous rendition of "We Shall Overcome Some Day" throughout much of the game. I think we certainly...

Re: Barnes goal

I thought his all round game was very good today, some nice hold up play and layoffs and seems more aware of those around him than he used to -- and I love that he is never afraid to have a pop at goal. That shot today he really hit superbly and a fine diagonal run and set up from Wood.

Great stuff, confident we can even crack the 50-points barrier. Today typified being a Claret in exile -- a bit of a blurry stream, coupled with updating the match thread on here. And 8 years since they last beat us :) They really have had that old comfort blanket of theirs really shoved where the sun don't shine. Doesn't matter where in the world we Clarets are, that - and the subsequent wins - have been fantastic feelings.

Sad to read about ClaretCanada Steve in the footnote. Hope the lads can give him a few more wins to add to this dedication.
Agree that this was a thoroughly good team performance that leaves me confident we can pile up a good haul of points in the remaining games.
