Re: Man Utd and Spurs on for Pope

I'm more concerned about the lack of strength in depth at centre back which will be left cavernous if suitable replacements do not arrive in the wake of Tarky's predicted departure. That said the backbone of the squad needs new blood throughout. If those two leave in the summer, I would love to see ...

Re: Burn the blue.

With regards playing in yellow, back in the day, early to mid 80s, I developed a bit of a fear of the away teams at the Turf playing in that colour. I think we must have had a rotten record with teams taking the points after playing yellow (mind you I think we had a fairly rotten record against team...

Not particularly knowledgeable about Northern Soul, but as a trader of used records I am aware of it's ever popular appeal and have stumbled across some sought after items from time to time. I have seen a good number of those pictured.

Soul in all its different forms always sells well.

I followed it on the BBC live feed. I had no idea how much worthy of a result we were. I was surprised when I saw the match stats too, as we had supposedly been poor throughout, or that is how it seemed.

Fabulous.

They had seven on-loan players starting the game against us. That's a ridiculous amount. They came up, played some 'nice' footie, and will probably drop back down again. They remind me a bit of last season's Bournemouth. Powderpuff.

I really don't mind how we set up and how we play. What irks me is when we play a 'long pass' to the forwards it's 'long ball, direct football'. Yet I saw a kick from a goalkeeper at the weekend (City I think) who put his player straight through on goal, and that was 'clever play by the keeper' with...

Personally, I have turned away from watching matches played to empty stadiums. The absence of the supporters, whoever's playing, leaves a huge chasm. There was a time whenever any opposing player had the ball I feared the worst.

I always seemed to note, down the years, if the opposition had an ex-Rover or one on loan from them, they'd do well.

Wayne Gill on loan at Blackpool was one of those moments.
