Been thinking or at least trying to. Imagine you're a Megellan mid manager in the hospitality tent during the just gone Ashes series. During "prawn cocktails" you get the customers spouting "Can't you shut that ***** (Matthew Wade) up?". Later on when it's become champagne cocktails it's turned to "...

OK CT, give us a list of those done for ball tampering in say the past 20 years, and tell us what their punishment was.
There will be a long list containing some rather eminent names, including English gentlemen, with punishments in the order of half their match fee.

Come on boys. Lighten up. Ball tampering is about as severe as running on the pitch. Umpires reported it, ICC dealt with it. Surely that's got to be the end of it. Give the sinners a fair go!

You youngsters have it all wrong. Time to get back to what it used to be.
Get women out of the workforce and back in the kitchen where they belong.
Immediate benefits - no women dole bludgers, no childcare requirement, giving rise to plenty of jobs for blokes so no need for dole at all.

If Cook carries his bat:
he'll be the first to do it at the MCG;
he'll be the highest individual innings score to do it anywhere;
it will be the highest team innings score to do it anywhere.
Who wants Jimmy out?
Who wants an overnight declaration?

Two things to do: 1. Go back to the former rule for offside. Any rule that permits "an interpretation at the given time" is a disaster waiting to happen to the minnows and a bonus to the big boys. Alternatively, get rid of it altogether. 2. Drop the substitutes nonsense. Football is 11 v 11. If you'...
