Every pre season down at BolEwood it's all 'we're in this together or Bowyer/Lambert/Mowbray* delete as appropriate, is the one to get us out of this mess' and 'Venkys need to step up etc etc ad infinitum. If we played two holding midfielders behind him then he would thrive. We don't, therefore he struggles.
In a 442 both midfielders need to be able to put a tackle in and work hard, as well as getting further up the pitch, he goes missing far too often and is lightweight.

I definitely see Robertson as a replacement for Boyd as opposed to Ward.
